Bioi bumbled into photography at the tender age of 19 when i needed an elective and photography sounded interesting at the local junior college i was taking summer classes at. it was all day on saturday and, by all means had every right to be a harrowing experience, but instead something about it really clicked.
when i found out that i could use it instead of art (drawing or painting) as my minor i jumped on the chance. my grades in photography always exceeded my grades in advertising and you'd think i would've taken a hint. but no. i blundered on and so my day job is as a graphic designer and photographer. hey, at least i'm attempting to use my education.
after finishing school i was completely sick of photography and took a 2 or 3 year sabbatical. then on my honeymoon my husband bought me a cheap pentax k1000 (which was better than the ricoh off-brand i'd used before) for photos in london. i shot several rolls of black and white in london and before i knew it... i was back in the saddle.
of late i've been shooting mostly digital. i revel in the freedom that it allows me to know that i have the shot when i take it and to be able to show the models what they're doing right or wrong immediately. i spend way less time in the darkroom and i invested in an archival-quality printer that i can personally control and play with for my gallery work.
